Daini (1960-1962)

The spatial balance and the pictorial solutions of the “Daini” (Deerskin) series (1960-1962) effectively determine new intuitions in machine-sewn production. The sewn and painted deerskins create dynamic spatial effects, close to the fluency of the “Serotipie” and other silkscreen works. The old clothes bought by the painter at the Roman market of Porta Portese and composed in a thoughtful and refined patchwork, in some cases leaving flaps protruding “outside” of the perimeter of the frame.
