Diagrammi (1958-1962)

The choice of name used for the cycle “Diagrammi” is explicitly linked to the similarity to the visual forms of the diagrams and consists of a specific line of machine-sewn production. The artist deviates from the usual perimeters to free fluid forms of “handkerchiefs,” thin lines of threads on fabric and paper, and also on larger surfaces. The cycle begun in 1958 ended in 1972 with the ironically titled work “Trionfo della morte” (Triumph of death) depicting his electrocardiogram, while in cardiac arrest, over a space of 32 feet.
