Scacchi (1953-1957)

From small silk screen printed papers and sometimes from cuts out of prior work, a new cycle is born. “Scacchi” (Chess) (1953-1957) takes its name from the chessboard, and it is developed into regular forms of rectangular and square figures responding to a geometry independent from Euclidean principals, blending indefinite space and colors The cycle is developed into different declinations from the initial collaged square cards, called “Scacco Matto”, using different materials such as canvas, wood, or corrugated cardboard, and which also includes exceptions to the collage technique, with oil and wax on canvas,.
