Tensioni (1962-1965)

In the “Tensioni” (tensions) cycle (1962-1965) spatial equilibrium becomes properly “material”: the pictorial scene is defined by stripes of silk or leather pieces extended and pulled from a frame’s edge to the other near the breaking point. The consequential iconography is conceived due to real action, as an inner force of the painting itself, expressing the balancing mechanics between order and the risk of deflagration as a constant theme in Nuvolo’s poetics.
