Rinascimento e contemporaneità, is the title of the event sponsored by the City of Città di Castello that will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 at the Pinacoteca at 6 p.m.
On this occasion, the restyling of a part of the Museum will be inaugurated, including:

• a new room for the works of Bruno Bartoccini, set up by Lorenzo Fiorucci;
• a new Events Room in which the exhibition “Collezionismo tifernate. Pistoletto, Dottori and the Others of the Pillitu Bequest” curated by Eleonora Reali,
• a new room for the works of Maestro Nuvolo.

Since 2015, the Contemporary Art section of the Municipal Art Gallery has been hosting “Sala Nuvolo,” the first display included only eight works from the 1950s and 1960s. In 2018, the Nuvolo Archive offers the exhibition of all fifteen works donated by the Ascani family plus an unpublished one owned by the City, purchased in the late 1950s when, encouraged by the importance Città di Castello was assuming in the postwar art scene, it was already thinking about a Municipal Modern Art Gallery.
Although keeping the same spaces, this first reorganization allowed the visitor to have a complete perspective of Master Nuvolo’s work and the evolution that, his research and his silkscreen technique, had from the early 1950s with the first Serotipie, to the mid-1990s with Aftermandelbrot and Genesi.

The important opportunity given by the Municipal Administration to move to a larger room within the Museum could not be ignored. First of all because it is possible to include in the exhibition another work of the Municipality that is very important both for its size and for its historicity; Untitled (Scacco) had in fact been donated by Nuvolo to his friend Aldo Riguccini “De Rigù,” also an important artist from tifernate, for his studio and then exhibited in the headquarters of the (former) Autonomous Tourism Board, back in 1957. Secondly, this new room and the new collaboration between the Archives and City Hall for future projects is the beginning of a program of events that will accompany us to 2026, the year of the Centennial of Master Nuvolo’s birth.
